INSANITY ROUND 2 - WEIGH IN

I haven't stepped on a scale since April this year where I was weighing in at 141 pounds...64kg for the metric people.

At 5'9 or 173cm, this is considered normal, but to myself this was not acceptable. 

I am SO proud to announce that I have dropped from 141 pounds to 127 pounds!!! 57.7kg!!!

I have achieved this goal the healthy way for once! No skipping breakfast or any meals and always pressing play to do my hour of intense INSANITY!
I just had to share this joyful news with anyone who reads my blog :)

ROUND 2 - WEEK 2


This morning we kicked it off with Cardio power & Resistance... All I can say, is that even though I have completed Month 1 and even Month 2, I still managed to feel exhausted at the end! My plan for round 2 is to push myself until I can't anymore, I have also tightened up on the diet. Last week my diet was nothing short of crap, but that ends today! I seriously love cheese too much.

ROUND 2 OF INSANITY!!

From the last fit test until now I have been man-down with flu which sadly lasted a week. So I had a weeks rest which isn't very good. I had convinced myself that if I can finished the whole 60 days, then doing it again will be a piece of cake…Yeah… NO…
Plyometric Cardio circuit was not as easy as it had been in my mind. What I do love is how hard I can push now. When I first started Month 1 I remember this exercise being crazy hard for me


Day 2 of INSANITY Plyometric Cardio Circuit. Yeah, I didn’t know what that meant either, but it left me huffing and puffing in a pool of my own sweat. It was a very intense circuit of cardio, so your heart rate shoots through the roof. I managed to push through it and wobble into the shower afterwards.”



Nothing much has changed there, except that I am fitter and stronger. It really did feel SO good to be back in it!! So now I start with a 60 DAY body & I look forward to further transformation!!

DAY 60 of INSANITY!!!

I have disappointing news… I was unable to do the FINAL FIT TEST!! I woke up this morning and it was like my body has been waiting 2 months for this moment… I am sick and it would be counterproductive to have done the routine.

I DO however have some results:

RESTING HEART RATE DAY 1: 67 BPM - GOOD

RESTING HEART RATE DAY 60: 54 BPM- ATHLETE



According to the chart, based on my age… I AM NOW AN ATHLETE… This makes me so happy! My cardio fitness has increased so much!!

DAY 59 OF INSANITY!!

Today was our official last workout day - Max Cardio condition and Insane Abs!!! Tomorrow we complete the challenge with the Fit Test!
This morning’s workout has left me feeling invigorated and ready to take on the day! Although we will be continuing into Round 2 of INSANITY, I couldn’t help but feel a little choked up with pride that we had managed to live through this workout from hell.

I have learnt so much about myself during this workout – I know that sounds weird – but INSANITY forces you to go to a place in your brain and bash down the walls of weakness. The mind will give up 1000 times before your body does – and once you learn to break down the walls of self-doubt – well then you become INSANE!

I don’t have a 6-pack YET, but I am thrilled with the results which I will post on day 60. I EARNED IT!

DAY 58 of INSANITY!

Max Interval Plyo is a hard workout after a weekend of partying! I know the point is to completely eat clean, but let’s be honest; I am not going to stop my everyday life. There were lots of festivities with friends this weekend and I wasn’t going to miss out! No, I didn’t gorge myself in fast food, but I may have drunk too much high calorie wine – oops.

In Round 2 of INSANITY my fiancƩ and I have decided that we are going to only do INSANITY 5 days a week and not 6, this allows us to have our weekends back.

After a weekend of drinking and late nights it felt good to be kicked back into sweat mode! Detox time!

DAY 55 of INSANITY!!

Core Cardio & Balance was a much needed workout this morning! It wasn’t too much, but it did still get the heart rate up and the sweat flowing. It gave my sore knee a bit of a rest which is needed!

55 days in! It is unbelievable that we have got so far! If I look back on all my old posts it just reminds me of the will power and determination that I have put into sculpting my body! I am really proud of myself and my fiancĆ©; I am so glad that aren't the sort of people to make excuses!

If you want a good body, you can't be a person who is lazy and makes excuses... there is always time for you to look after your body and health!

DAY 54 of INSANITY!!!

There was this moment during Max Interval Circuit where my FiancĆ© and I caught each other’s eyes… It was a crazy-eyed look… It was a look that sort of said ‘this is f*cking insane!’

Even though you die during this workout I always feel fantastic afterwards! Have I got a six-pack yet? No… but I think it takes a bit longer than 2months to develop a ripping six pack and I will continue until I do!!!

I can see the biggest difference on hip/ thigh area. It’s like someone has shaved off a layer of fat from this region and they can keep on shaving!!

DAY 53 of INSANITY!!

I hate Max cardio conditioning for one reason &one alone. THERE ARE NO 30 SECOND BREAKS! It throws me off. I have got so used to the ‘push your body to death’ for 3 minutes at a time and then have your 30second gasp of air… but in this workout you are deprived of any sort of break!

I don’t feel so bad when I have to stop for a few seconds because the team doing the routine on TV also drop like flies. I researched yesterday to see if I was the only weakling that has sore knees and I was shocked to find that so many people fall victim to sore knees during INSANITY.
I think I am going to have to invest in some expensive cross trainers because the pain in my left knee is just ridiculous!

DAY 52 of INSANITY!!

Max Plyo today left me sprawled out on our lounge floor like a dead star fish! My energy levels weren’t at their peak & once again the Beast from the Apocalypse showed me who was boss!! There are SO many push-ups in this workout and Shaun T doesn’t exactly do them slowly, even after 52 days I am nowhere near close to his push-up speed…my excuse is going to be that it’s because I am not a man :)

My knee is still giving me trouble so I went and found some chiro exercises to help strengthen my knee muscle. I am really hoping that this will solve the issue!!

DAY 51 of INSANITY!

Life sometimes gets in the way and there is just no way around it. I had to do Saturday’s routine today – Core Cardio and Balance – so every day is going to be one out.

It is the LAST week of the INSANITY 60 DAY CHALLENGE!!! I cannot believe it! The weekend through off the clean eating but back on track for the final week!!!

I am VERY excited to compare DAY 1 fat lumpy body to DAY 60 body!!! 

I will then bust back into Recovery and START again :) Round 2!!

DAY 50 of INSANITY!!!

Never drink the night before you have to do Max Interval Circuit! Every drop of sweat that came out of my skin today was wine! Even though I felt slightly hangover this morning, I managed to power through this workout! I know it's not the workouts getting easier, it's just me getting fitter - a great feeling!
My knee is still tender, so today I substituted the jumps for sprints and I will continue to do that until my knee has healed.

DAY 49 of INSANITY!

Max Recovery today and I am thankful for this workout because my knee is still tender and even something simple like lunges made my knee hurt. INSANITY is a high impact routine and if I want to continue with this, I might need to get a knee brace – sad face – I have never had problems with my knees before!!!

I refuse to be beaten by my body!

Such a true saying... So many people are unhappy with their bodies, but just aren't willing to put in the sweat, tears and pain to get what they want. I have seen a mother of 4 handle being a wife, a mother AND finish the INSANITY challenge!

DAY 48 of INSANITY!

Max cardio conditioning and Cardio Abs! All the power jumps have finally taken its toll on my knees. After this workout my left knee is really sensitive and sore when I flex it… I am hoping this is just a temporary tweak.

With just 10 days to go before we have completed the challenge I am seeing changes to my ‘hate’ handles! They are slowly dissolving from my body – which is very exciting! My fiancĆ© can’t stop telling me how sexy my legs are looking as well, so all these things just make it all the more worth it… even if I have to hobble around on a bad knee today!

DAY 47 of INSANITY!

To think that I have been doing this for nearly 50 days is crazy – in a good way! This morning was Max Plyo circuit and for once it didn’t feel like a death routine! It’s either because I’m fitter or in comparison to yesterday it was easier, you be the judge!

The section of this routine that always stuffs me up is the 3 rounds of power jumps. Jumping for 45 seconds doesn’t sound like a long time, but boy does it kill me every time! I definitely felt more powered up today!

As you can see there has been a vast improvement on most of them! I really tried my best and was pretty burnt out afterwards! 

Rest? 

Nope, it was straight into Max Interval Circuit… I really think that this is pushing the body too hard and far, but who am I? It is just very intense especially after the 30min Fit Test! You are pushing your body to the max for 1 and a half hours. Well we did make it through alive – somehow- Month 2 is seriously INSANE!!

DAY 45 of INSANITY!

I was relieved to see that this morning was Core Cardio and Balance, this is a step down in intensity compared to the other Max workouts and I was sort of wondering why Shaun T injected that workout in… it was then that I looked at the calendar and saw why… Monday we have our Fit Test AND Max Interval Circuit. OMG.

The workout this morning still got me sweating and the workout at the end – the PliĆ© or squat ballet pose STILL burnt my thighs to death but I was able to hold it, which means my thighs have got stronger since our recovery week!

DAY 44 of INSANITY!

Today was a double workout, Max Cardio Conditioning and then Cardio abs afterwards. You would think that it gets easier as the days progress, but somehow it always just remains in ass-kicking mode! I know I seem to say this in every blog post, but this workout is not a joke. When people want me to do something active after INSANITY I battle… and then they think I am being lazy…well I would just like to say, DO INSANITY and then come and tell me that I am lazy!

I have new respect for the guys that play American Football! A lot of Shuan T’s workouts are based on their drills and although on TV it looks easy… gee whiz, give it a go and you will look at it very differently. 

How many push-ups and sprints can you do in 30seconds?

DAY 43 of INSANITY!

18 DAYS left before this challenge comes to an end! Obviously we will continue after the 60 days are over. This morning was Max recovery, I really needed this workout this morning – well the stretching part of it, the never ending sets of push-ups and low plank, high plank still exhausts my arms!

There is STILL this one position in this routine – work out 3- that I still can’t do all the way through without shaking my thighs out, you literally hold the squat position for so long that your thighs start shaking like there is an earth quake. I managed better today than most other recovery days, but I still want to nail it and not stop!!

I have to get on my bike just now and cycle to a meeting… I am not looking forward to using my legs…

DAY 42 of INSANITY!

It amazes me how your energy levels fluctuate… This morning was Max Interval Plyo and as early as the warm up I knew my energy was low and my head wasn’t in the game. This is deadly when it comes to INSANITY… I would rather try my best and do the workout than give up and not do it. Today’s workout for me was difficult from beginning to end. 

Your mind gives up 1000 times before your body will, so you just have to get through it!
Tomorrow is Max Recovery… and we all know that Shaun T doesn’t know what the word recovery means – and I say that with a smile on my face.

DAY 41 of INSANITY!

ALIVE, AWAKE, ALERT, ENTHUSIASTIC –WOOOOOHOOO!

There is nothing better than finishing Max Interval Circuit! Best feeling in the world! I didn’t start the workout with any enthusiasm because I KNOW what I am getting myself into, but 35minutes in I was in the zone and once again cursing Shaun T.

The amount of sweat that one loses doing these workouts is astonishing, and according to research, sweating is beneficial to the body. As I am sweating like a pig, my sweat removes toxins and diseases out of my body. The kidneys can take up to 24 hours to remove harmful toxins like lead and mercury, while sweating removes these metals much faster. 

Sweating can also rid the body of harmful substances like alcohol, cholesterol and salt. For the ladies that want to look younger, profuse sweating can slow down the aging of your skin! Good to know!! So if you want rock hard abs and a pretty face, then INSANITY is the way to go :)

DAY 40 of INSANITY!

We began week 2 with Max Cardio conditioning, this workout is what it says… I think my heart rate couldn’t have gone any higher if it had tried! There are so few breaks in this routine that you are eventually pushed so far out of your comfort zone, but this is where the magic happens – as they say.

I am going to include my measurements from Day 1 to now Day 40. Although there isn’t massive cm loss, I know that my body is tighter and I also like to think it is because we don’t have THAT much fat to loose.

DAY 39 of INSANITY!

A massive pat on my back for making it through week 1 of Month 2!! Shaun T has stepped up the pace and is more determined to make me die in a pool of my own sweat! I have decided that Max Interval Circuit is the enemy, and hardest workout! A full hour of thigh burning, muscle throbbing workout. I remember looking up and seeing that we 30minutes to go and I was already flat dead. Somehow we always make it through. I hope we didn’t disturb our neighbours with our screams of total exhaustion…

DAY 38 of INSANITY!

Max Plyo or the beast from the apocalypse… I think I made it through this session much better than last week! Power jumps for 3x 45 seconds, the guys that are doing the workout with Shaun T, all manage to get through it DOUBLE TIME…They are like titans! I try harder each time to get past the burn and push, but sometimes that little voice in my head telling me to stop wins.

Now I can face the rest of my Saturday knowing that I have lapped all the people just sitting on their couches!

DAY 37 of INSANITY!

Max Recovery.  This ‘recovery’ workout is not one of the best. I do enjoy all the stretches but the main focus on this workout seems to be upper body – there is a lot of low plank, high plank positions and although my arms have gotten stronger, I am no way near being able to do all of them and this irritates me.

This workout compared to the other MAX routines is a step down and it does allow you to really stretch out all those tight and sore muscles in preparation of tomorrow’s hardcore workout. It is good to have a recovery day, but I do find myself left feeling unsatisfied… I think I might be addicted to the endorphins

DAY 35 of INSANITY!

I have just completed the Beast from the apocalypse or better known at Max Interval Plyo! I was very nervous about this workout based on its reviews, but I have to say… I LOVED it! It was no doubt JUST as tough as yesterday and I was sweating in liters!

What I loved about this DVD was the vibe! The other guys doing the workout are all pumped up & hurting just as much as you are and it really helped me to get through the tough times. There are some new moves introduced into the routine which was exciting but they were also rather difficult, such as the squat push up… guess I will get better with practice. 32 pushups and 32 plank runs... this workout is not for the weak!

This workout has left me completely wasted! I LOVE IT!

MONTH 2 of INSANITY!

DAY 34

Fit Test and Max Interval Circuit. Looking back on Month 1 I am not really sure what I was complaining about… After pushing hard in the Fit test we then had to do our first session of the MAX series. That was by FAR the HARDEST workout I have EVER done in my ENTIRE life!!! NO WONDER everyone gets their results in month 2!!! IT WAS INSANE!

I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but COME ON!!! OMG!!! I had such a bad stitch in my side that didn’t go away for nearly the whole workout. It was an hour of hell. I think doing the Fit Test before tired me out and then THAT on top of it, holy crap!

Tomorrow is Max Interval Plyo… also commonly referred to as the Beast from the Apocalypse…. Oh yipppeee… I am so excited….

RECOVERY WEEK

DAY 32 of INSANITY!

I am really excited to be done with this week!! One more day of this and then we can finally kick it into high gear and start seeing some major changes on my body! I have to remind myself that results do take time, and after all it has only been 32 days.

The workout this morning went so well! I didn’t feel exhausted and I managed to dig deeper and power through, absorbing my muscle pain and just getting through it. I am taking my break tomorrow and will do my final day of Core Cardio & Balance on Sunday. We are going camping, so I have to shift the workout around, rather shift it, than miss it!!

RECOVERY WEEK

DAY 31 of INSANITY!

Doing the same workout for the past 5 days is slightly boring, but it doesn’t make it any less difficult. You would think that after 5 days you would be able to hold a squat forever…nope, that’s a lie.

It finally dawned on me WHY this Core cardio & Balance is difficult… basically nearly all the workout positions require you to be in the squat position. So when you get to the final 10 minutes at the end and you have to hold that PliĆ© or ballet pose for literally the whole 10minutes, you want to collapse!
Core Cardio & Balance for me kills my thighs, no complaints though. 

We have 2 more days of it and then it’s GO time! Month 2!!!

RECOVERY WEEK

DAY 30 of INSANITY!

My energy levels were extremely low this morning.  Shaun T says it’s ok to be tired because we’ve been pushing out bodies hard for 4 weeks… so I won’t be too hard on myself. I managed to make it through the workout but inwardly I was cursing Shaun T and my tired body!

Today it was the switch kicks and thigh bobs that really hurt me. The PliĆ© (ballet stance) is still the toughest though, but I managed to do much better with it today, I didn’t have to kick out my thighs as much!

I am tired.

RECOVERY WEEK

DAY 29 of INSANITY!

DIETING NIGHTMARES are a constant battle with women of all ages these days. The constant attempt to lose weight, trim down or starve themselves to some illusion of perfection. What I found out recently, and I am not sure WHY this never made sense to me before, is that when you are pushing your body as hard as we are in the INSANITY program or any other gyming program YOU HAVE TO FEED YOUR BODY. If you are gyming and starving yourself you are in fact losing muscle mass NOT fat… the result… you will be a wobbly piece of meat and have wasted your time…

After so many years of cutting out calories, Shaun T now encourages you to eat, eat and EAT. Obviously within your daily calorie needs and not Mc Donalds, but what is so nice is that carbs are not the enemy. It has shifted my whole way of thinking. To get my desired results with INSANITY… I HAVE to eat to boost my metabolism and feed my new muscles. Plus, if you didn’t eat with the INSANITY program, you would burn out FAST!



Today’s Core Cardio & Balance was amazing. Those Plie’s ( ballet moves) kill my thighs, but I did much better today! My arms were even stiff this morning from all the boxing jabs! 4 days to go before MONTH 2!!!!
